Transfers of .co.uk and .uk are £0.00

Transfer your domain to Cloud Cabin

Move your domain in a few simple steps. Your website and email should stay online, and you gain free DNS management, WHOIS privacy and domain locking.

How it works

Five steps to a smooth transfer

Most of it happens at your current registrar. We'll guide you through the rest.

  1. Get ready

At your current registrar, unlock the domain and switch off WHOIS privacy if it is on. Check the owner's email address works.

  2. Get the code

Ask your current registrar for the authorisation (EPP) code. .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk domains have no code: see the box below.

  3. Order here

Enter your domain above. In our client area, add the code if your extension has one, then check out.

  4. Approve

Confirm the email from the registry or your registrar. For .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk, ask your registrar to change the IPS tag to REGISTRAR-EU.

  5. Done

Most transfers take 5 to 7 days, and .uk ones a few hours once the tag changes. Then manage DNS, renewals and locking in the client area.

Moving a .co.uk, .uk or .org.uk domain?

Our IPS tag is REGISTRAR-EU

These domains do not use an authorisation code. Order your transfer here first, then ask your current registrar to change the domain's IPS tag to the one above. Copy it exactly: it is case-sensitive.

  • Order the transfer here first. Your registrar's tag change is declined if no order exists.
  • Ask your current registrar to change the tag to REGISTRAR-EU. Copy and paste it.
  • It completes within a few hours of the tag change. The request expires after 45 days.

Transfers of these three are £0.00 and your expiry date does not change, so renew soon if it is close. Your current registrar may charge its own release fee. From 9 February 2027 Nominet replaces tags with transfer codes. Read the full guide.

By extension

What your extension needs

Most extensions follow the standard steps. A few have their own.

What each kind of extension needs for a transfer
ExtensionWhat you need and how long it takes
.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and most othersUnlock the domain, switch off WHOIS privacy, get the authorisation code and approve the confirmation email. The domain must be more than 60 days old. Usually 5 to 7 days: it goes through by itself after 5 days if nobody refuses it, and approving the email speeds it up. For .com, .net and .info the email is a form called an FOA.
.co.uk, .uk, .org.ukNo code. Order first, then your current registrar changes the IPS tag to REGISTRAR-EU. A few hours once the tag is changed; the request expires after 45 days.
.euUnlock the domain and get the authorisation code, then order soon after: the code only lasts a short time. Approve the confirmation email when it arrives.
.esThe authorisation code, plus a second email confirmation on top of the usual one. Transfer price £0.00.
.io, .co, .me, .dev, .app, .tech and the restThe standard steps: unlock, switch off WHOIS privacy, get the code and approve the email. Some extensions add a step, such as a form or a document. If yours does, open a ticket and we'll guide you.

Before you start

A quick checklist

Get these ready and your transfer will go through first time.

  • The domain is unlocked at your current registrar, and WHOIS privacy is switched off (you can switch it back on afterwards)
  • You have the authorisation (EPP) code. Not needed for .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk
  • For .com, .net, .org and other generic extensions, the domain was registered or last transferred more than 60 days ago
  • The domain has not expired. If it has, renew it at your current registrar first
  • The owner's email address is one you can read: the approval email goes there
  • You've noted your current DNS records, so nothing is lost
  1. Your current registrarunlock the domain and request its code
  2. Code or IPS tagthe code goes in our client area; .uk domains use the tag REGISTRAR-EU
  3. Cloud Cabinfree DNS, WHOIS privacy and domain lock
Your website and email should stay online. A transfer changes who manages the domain, not where it points, as long as your DNS records stay the same.

In short

To transfer a domain to Cloud Cabin, unlock it at your current registrar, switch off WHOIS privacy if it is on, get its authorisation (EPP) code, order the transfer here and approve the confirmation email. .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk domains need no code: order first, then ask your current registrar to change the IPS tag to REGISTRAR-EU. Transfers of those three are £0.00; for most other extensions the fee includes one year's extension to your registration. Your website and email should stay online throughout.

Frequently asked questions

For .com, .net, .org and most other extensions, usually 5 to 7 days. Your current registrar has up to 5 days to respond after you confirm, and the transfer goes through by itself if nobody refuses it. Approving the confirmation email speeds it up. For .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk it is quick once your current registrar changes the IPS tag, usually within a few hours, but the request expires after 45 days. Some other extensions take longer.

It is REGISTRAR-EU. Use it for .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk domains: order the transfer with us first, then ask your current registrar to change the domain's tag to REGISTRAR-EU. Copy it exactly, because tags are case-sensitive and a wrong one cannot be undone. A wrong tag has to be rejected by your registrar, or left to expire (about 5 days), before you try again.

For most extensions, yes: unlock the domain and ask your current registrar for the code. You do not need one for .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk, which move by an IPS tag change instead. From 9 February 2027 these also use a transfer code. For .eu the code only lasts a short time, so order soon after you get it.

It should not. A transfer changes who manages the domain, not where it points, so your site and email keep working while your DNS records stay the same. Some registrars delete a domain's DNS records when they release it, so write down your records first, and check your site and email when the transfer is done.

The domain must be unlocked, WHOIS privacy switched off (you can switch it back on afterwards) and not expired. You need the authorisation (EPP) code, except for .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk, and an owner email address you can read, because the approval email goes there. For .com, .net, .org and other generic extensions the domain must also be more than 60 days old since it was registered or last transferred. A change to the owner's details can start the same 60 days.

Transfer prices are shown in the table on this page. For most generic extensions the fee includes one year's extension to your registration. Transfers of .co.uk, .uk and .org.uk domains are £0.00, and their expiry date does not change, so renew soon if it is close. Your current registrar may charge its own release fee.

The usual causes are a locked domain, WHOIS privacy still on, a wrong or expired code, a confirmation email nobody opened, a domain less than 60 days old, or one that has expired (renew it at your current registrar first; if it is already in the redemption period, that registrar has to restore it, usually for a fee). Your current registrar can also refuse a transfer, for example over an unpaid invoice, so ask it for the reason. Fix the cause, then open a ticket in the client area with your domain name and we'll help.

Only while it is waiting for approval. Once it has been approved it cannot be stopped. If you ordered by mistake, open a ticket straight away.
